Tulane Women’s Basketball adds six to 2024-25 roster (2)

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane’s head women’s basketball coach Ashley Langford announced her inaugural 2024-25 recruiting class on Monday.

Kayla Hampton is a 5’9″ guard from Bossier, Louisiana. Most recently, she spent a year at Kilgore College in Kilgore, Texas. As a member of the Rangers, she played in 32 games with 30 starts while averaging 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. She reached double figures 23 times including a career-high 29 points against Panola College.

“Kayla is an athletic, combo guard who can score on all three levels and will flourish in our up-tempo transition offense,” said Langford regarding Hamption, who played her freshman season at Northwestern State. “Her defensive instincts and ability to guard multiple positions will allow us to disrupt opponents.”

Dyllan Hanna is 6’2″ forward out of St. Augustine, Florida and played her first two collegiate seasons at fellow American Athletic Conference member Florida Atlantic University. In 2022-23 at FAU, she played in 26 games and started five while averaging 3.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Hanna also led the team in field goal percentage at 67 percent and was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Week on December 12, 2022. Last season as a member of the Owls, Hanna played in 30 games with 18 starts, averaging 4.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. She led the team in field goal percentage at 57.8 and in blocks with 22.

“Dyllan is an athletic forward who will make an immediate impact on the defensive end,” Langford said. “She can guard multiple positions and has a knack for rebounding. In addition, offensively she will provide a low block presence for us and she runs the floor very well in transition.”

Vee Keenan is a 5’7″ guard out of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She started her collegiate career at Seton Hall University playing in 41 games and totaling 37 made 3-pointers. Keenan spent the 2023-24 campaign playing under Coach Langford at Stony Brook University. As a member of the Seawolves, she played in 33 games and totaled a team-leading 79 triples, a total that placed her third in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). Her 40.6 percent shooting from three-point range led the conference. She ranked fourth on the team with an average of 8.7 points per game and totaled 108 rebounds, 33 assists, and placed second on the team with 44 steals.

“Vee is a sharpshooter who will help us space the floor on the offensive end,” said Langford. “She is a fearless competitor who makes energy plays on both sides of the ball. Most importantly, Vee understands what is necessary to win a championship.”

Sherese Pittman is a 6’2″ forward from Richmond, Virgina. Pittman started her collegiate career at James Madison University (where Coach Langford originally recruited her), before playing the last two seasons at Stony Brook. In her first season as a member of the Seawolves in 2022-23, Pittman was a Second Team All-CAA selection after placing second in the conference in rebounding at 8.2 per game to go along with her average of 13.7 points a contest. She also led the squad in blocks and tallied six double-doubles.

Last season at Stony Brook, Pittman was again Second Team All-CAA after averaging 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds a contest. She placed third on the team in scoring and helped lead the program to the second round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament. In 59 career games at Stony Brook, Pittman averaged 13.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 77 percent from the free throw line.

“Reese is a versatile forward who can play inside and out with the ability to score at all three levels,” Langford said. “In addition, she has established herself as an elite rebounder and her competitive nature will permeate throughout our team. Reese is a leader and will bring a championship mentality to our program.”

Sadie Shores is a 5’10” guard from Purcellville, Virginia where she attended Woodgrove High School. As a senior, Shores helped lead her team to the first women’s basketball state championship in school history. She was the first player in school history to ever be named First Team All-Met by the Washington Post after averaging 18 points per game. She also was First Team VHSL All-State, First Team All-CATOCTIN District, First Team All-Region 4C, and a McDonalds All-American Nominee.

“Sadie is a winner who LOVES the game of basketball,” said Langford. “She is an athletic, versatile guard who can play multiple positions and score in a variety of ways. Sadie’s high IQ and relentless work ethic fits our culture perfectly.”

Kianni Westbrook is a 6’3″ forward from Augusta, Georgia. Westbrook started her collegiate career at Daytona State College (DSC) in Daytona, Florida. In her two years with the Falcons, she played in 46 games with 44 starts while averaging 13.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. In her final year at DSC in 2020-21, she was named First Team All-Central Conference and was All-Region VIII/All-State after leading the conference and ranking second in the region in rebounding (11.5) and field goal percentage (57.7).

Westbrook played the 2021-22 campaign at Tennessee State in Nashville, Tennessee where she averaged 4.0 points while playing in 29 games with 10 starts. She spent the 2023-24 year at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan where she played in 10 games with seven starts. In her time with the Golden Grizzlies, she averaged 6.7 points and 4.1 rebounds per game with a 50 percent shooting percentage from the field.

“Kianni is an athletic forward that will protect the paint and disrupt opponent offenses,” said Langford. “She has the ability to play on the block and on the perimeter, but she is best in transition. Her competitive nature fits our culture, and she will make an immediate impact.”
