What do yellow exclamation marks mean in NfS: Heat?

As you progress through the story of NfS: Heat, more events will be unlocked across the Palm City map. New races are marked with the corresponding note "NEW". You can recognize completed events by the white tick in a black circle next to the symbols. But you've probably also noticed yellow exclamation marks that appear from time to time at random events when you call up the map. What exactly does that mean?

Yellow exclamation marks can be pretty useful. If you increase the performance of one of your cars with enough performance tuning, you unlock new stages for events that have already been unlocked .

For example, the Scorpion circuit race in Downtown Palm City has a recommended level of 220. Driving a vehicle that is many times that level will unlock a higher level, which recommends a performance rating of 260. When this happens, the icon on the map will have a yellow exclamation mark.

If you select the event on the map, you can change the level and thus the level of difficulty with the directional pad (left and right). Alternatively, you can drive to the race location and conveniently switch the stage there before the start in the same way.

So don't ignore yellow exclamation marks if you want to earn money or REP. Incidentally, the same applies at night. Not only the level, but also the rewards in the form of money and REP will be increased. New events will not allow you to change tiers. You must first complete them on the given difficulty.

How can you sell your car in NfS: Heat?

If you want to sell your car, you have to return to the garage. The car dealership south of your main hideout is an erroneously chosen target for this endeavor by many. I too initially looked for an option there, but was disappointed. Drive to the garage or use the fast travel function via the map. How to sell your car:

• Go to the Presentation tab in the Garage with L1 (PS4) or LB (Xbox One).

Unlock ultimate parts

Completing a High Heat event unlocks a random part . You have to protect this from the cops and bring it safely to the garage. If you fail, you lose all rewards. High heat races are of course only available at night.

Increase heat level and escape the cops
If you want to unlock ultimate parts, we can give you a few useful tips along the way. First, you must increase your heat level to at least 3 before starting a corresponding high heat event. Here we can recommend the race track in Palm City Raceway . Switch to night, keep driving in circles and repeatedly take the speed trap and the long jump with you. With ease your heat level will increase to 3 or even 5. Alternatively, you can of course also complete a few normal night races beforehand, but the risk of being caught is higher.

If you have increased your heat level accordingly, you have to drive carefully to the next event. Because, as you've probably noticed, you can't start a race if the cops are chasing you. Just pay attention to the map and avoid the police until you reach your destination. A corresponding announcement on the police radio gives you the all-clear and helps you to drive to the event.

Already knew? You will get the Most Wanted Person trophy if you complete a High Heat 5 race and return safely to the garage.

Once you've completed a high-heat race and got an ultimate piece in your trunk, all you have to do is escape from the cops and flee to a garage or hideout. The police cars are especially prone to water and jumps. Here are a few tricks on how to get rid of the cops:

• Drive to Edgewood Valley and visit the parking garage. There is a ramp on the top floor that you can use to jump onto the building next door. If you do that, you're as good as rid of the cops. They make the jump in the rarest of cases.
• Do a few laps around the track at Palm City Raceway and jump out through one of the exits. There's a hideout nearby.
• Travel to Port Murphy and jump on the containers. Even at heat level 5, you'll easily outrun the cops up here.

With practice, you'll find plenty of good spots and be able to escape again and again, even at heat level 5. Ultimate Parts are especially necessary if you want to boost your vehicle's performance to 400+.

Farm REP and increase reputation quickly

If you want to increase your reputation, you have to hit the streets at night in Need for Speed: Heat. Reputation points, also known as REP, are primarily gained by chasing the police - although you also have to escape. You can find out how to farm REP quickly here.

How does REP work in NfS: Heat
While you participate in events during the day to collect money , at night it's all about reputation points, i.e. REP. As a reward for completing events, you will receive reputation points, which will be credited to your account. However, you must secure the REP of each night by driving to a hiding place and ending the darkness for the time being. If you get caught by the police beforehand, you'll lose reputation points, money and the heat multiplier - it really hurts!

Speaking of Heat Multiplier, the more attention you draw at night, the more your Heat level will increase. You can do this by completing events, escaping chases, or completing activities like long jumps or speed traps. You can reach a maximum of heat level 5. The cops will arm themselves accordingly and act aggressively. By the way, if you manage to farm 1,000,000 REP in just one night, you will get the trophy "Cash in" .

Tips on how to farm REP more easily
In our general tips guide , we have already provided you with some tips on how to escape from the police more easily. Since these are essential if you want to farm REP, here are the most important tricks again:

• Stay close to the water, steer towards it and just before that, use the handbrake to drift so that the cops fall into the water and are automatically destroyed.
• Speed ​​only really gets you further in the first two heat levels. Rather drive through dense housing estates and try to outrun the police with constant changes of direction.
• Once you have escaped, you should hide and turn off the engine by pressing L1 + Square or LB + X.

You can easily farm reputation points by constantly completing activities on the map while escaping. This can be long jumps, speed traps or drift zones , although we cannot really recommend the latter with this method. All you have to do is get a star in any activity and depending on your heat level, you will get additional reputation points.

Of course, you can also bring your heat level to 5 first and then complete the activities. Here, for example , Downtown Palm City is a good choice . There are two speed traps here (one east and one mid-south) that you can easily complete with a mid-range car. You keep driving back and forth here and in an emergency you can easily escape because there is a hiding place to the north-west. The speed traps give you about 10,000 REP per pass at heat level 5.

Very important if you want to farm REP and increase your reputation: Remember that you can only drive through a gas station and repair your vehicle three times each night . Even with a total loss you lose all your reputation points.

Earn 3 million REP in an hour

The Palm City Raceway area hosts the Flying Dutchman sprint race at night . With a recommended performance rating of 340, you will receive almost 39,000 REP as a reward - even at heat level 0.
